In an effort to unseat Google’s browser and search majority, ChatGPT has released their own browser dubbed ChatGPT Atlas.
Many users already jump between browsers, while there Isn’t a published statistic available from surveys on the topic it appears at least 30% of users may switch depending on the task or the device they need to use. As we mentioned, Chrome is still the browser to beat with a whopping 73.22% of the market (runner ups are Safari with 13.27%, Microsoft’s Edge with 4.61% and Firefox with 2.2% respectively).
Google has also recently made their own AI platform, Gemini, directly accessible in Chrome however it’s not directly molded into the experience. If you want to use a Gemini feature an external popup will occur.
The folks behind ChatGPT, OpenAI, wanted the AI experience to be more seamless with Atlas. We should also note that Atlas is ONLY available for macOS as of writing. In demos of the product, instead of a separate window popping out you have what looks like an extension you’re able to click on and directly query the bot on what you’re looking for without leaving the existing window.
This may seem like a small innovation but it’s one that ensures users will be more likely to use it in day-to-day applications, whereas something that requires more effort may be quickly discarded.
So why is this functionality only on macOS at the moment? It’s due to Apple’s Silicon optimization, which we have to admit is superior to that of Windows devices, this allows the browser to be deployed on devices better formulated for using it. It also allows them to extensively test with one platform versus Windows devices that do not have a homogenous brand or list of specifications in the way macOS devices do.
It's also important to note that while this browser is an evolution in the way AI interacts with our web browsing, it is still built off the Chromium interface. This means it will be a familiar experience for users in the same way that Microsoft Edge was when it switched to Chromium as well. This also means it will have the same access to Chrome web extensions as the original does.
One downside to ChatGPT’s Atlas is that they really want you to be a paying member of the club to use it, early reports say that the popup to upgrade to ChatGPT plus occurs frequently and without warning, interrupting usage.
With AI now entering the browser space, we wanted to add some new ways to utilize AI in your workday. Here are three ways you can use AI (even on a Windows device) to streamline your workflow:
- Auto-Orchestrating Task Agents
Use AI “agents” (autonomous tools that plan and act) to handle end-to-end micro-workflows rather than just assist.
What it does: For example, an agent could monitor email for a vendor invoice, extract the invoice details, check against purchase records, initiate a payment, update the ledger, and notify the requester. This moves from “assistive” AI toward “agentic” workflows.
Why it matters: It frees up more human time from repetitive, multistep administrative work and enables faster throughput/decision-making.
Implementation tip: Start by mapping a workflow your team does manually (e.g., invoice → approval → pay → update). Identify the repeatable, rule-based parts. Then pilot an AI tool (or set of tools) to handle those steps, with human oversight at key decision-points. Build the “handoff” rules clearly. Document governance (who approves the agent’s actions, audit trails).
- AI-Powered Inbox and Workflow Automation
What it does:
Modern AI assistants (like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, or Zapier AI) can now understand your email, chat, and task patterns. You can use them to auto-triage incoming messages, summarize threads, create tasks, and even draft responses.
Example:
- “Flag invoices for approval, summarize each, and route to accounting.”
- “Summarize unread Teams messages and post a morning digest.”
Why it matters:
Reduces inbox clutter and keeps your team focused on work that matters, not message management.
How to start:
Turn on Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook or Teams. Train it with a few examples (“When you see invoices, flag and forward to finance@company.com). Review the summaries weekly.
- AI Summaries for Reports, Meetings, and Projects
What it does: AI summarizers can turn long documents, Teams recordings, or email threads into concise, readable takeaways for executives.
Example:
- “Summarize this 45-minute meeting and list follow-up tasks by department.”
- Why it matters: Cuts hours of note-taking and ensures no detail is lost when sharing updates.
- How to start: Turn on Copilot in Teams or OneNote, or upload recordings to Otter.ai or Fireflies.ai for automatic summary generation and action item tracking.
Artificial Intelligence isn’t a passing trend, it’s fast becoming the backbone of how modern businesses work, secure data, and stay competitive.
